YINGDA WEAR TECHNOLOGIES
Bimetallic Barrels & Screw Wear Protection
BM1 and BM2 barrel wear solutions for extrusion, injection molding and compounding. Match the alloy lining and screw surface to your material and machine.
UNDERSTANDING THE CONSTRUCTION
What is bimetallic technology?
A bimetallic barrel combines a supporting steel body with an alloy lining at the bore. The lining contacts the plastic, while the steel body supports the component. Alloy selection and the matching screw treatment depend on the material and operating conditions.
1
Alloy lining
The selected alloy forms the working surface at the barrel bore.
2
Steel backing
The supporting steel body provides the barrel’s structural strength.
3
Finishing & inspection
Agree lining thickness, hardness, bore dimensions and surface finish before production.
What we match together
- The barrel alloy and processed material
- The screw surface and barrel lining
- Dimensions, clearance and working conditions

OPERATING & MAINTENANCE
How to protect screw and barrel life
01
Keep temperatures within the process window
Use the approved settings for the resin and machine.
02
Set screw speed for the application
Review speed together with output, material and equipment limits.
03
Use a suitable purge procedure
Match the purge method to the material and equipment.
04
Inspect during shutdown
Record surface condition and dimensions at several positions.
05
Follow the warm-up procedure
Allow the machine to heat and soak according to its instructions.
06
Control contamination
Review feed cleanliness and suitable filtration.
07
Track operating clearance
Compare measured screw and barrel dimensions with the agreed limits.
08
Match working surfaces
Review the screw protection and barrel lining together.
WARNING SIGNS OF WEAR
